HOW IT STARTED

FROM A SHARED PASSION TO A CREATIVE PLATFORM

lab or8 250

LAB/OR8 was born out of a shared passion for creativity and community. It all started with ‘Berwick Community Radio’, where James Sanderson and Bodhi Turnbull first took ownership of the project, and started to think big.

After some time and perseverance, they shaped what you see today - LAB/OR8 - a platform that not only showcases local talents, but also gives young creatives the tools, advice, and inspiration to grow.

The team created a twice-monthly podcast striving to connect creatives with audiences, and the cultural community in the North East. Hosts James and Bodhi are both Berwick musicians and sound
engineers who bring technical expertise, curiosity, and a love of local art to every episode, making LAB/OR8 Podcast a space where creativity thrives and voices are heard.

Whether you’re a listener, a creator, or just curious about the arts in North Northumberland, LAB/OR8 is your front-row seat to the music, art, and ideas shaping the border region.

YOUNG AND EMERGING TALENT

LAB/OR8 Podcast is dedicated to discovering and supporting creative
voices across the region. We shine a spotlight on the music, art, and
culture of Berwick & North Northumberland, giving young and emerging creatives a platform to share their stories, inspirations and work.

Each episode features interviews and artist spotlights, covering
everything from upcoming events in local venues to music and cultural
festivals. Our mission is to inspire and involve the next generation of
talent, helping them take their first steps into the creative industry while celebrating the region’s unique artistic identity and energy.

OUR TEAM

They’re on a mission to spotlight local talent, share creative insights, and inspire the next generation of artists close to the border.

JAMES SANDERSON

HOST + PRODUCER

I’m a freelance sound engineer and musician based in Northumberland and the Scottish Borders, delivering professional audio for live events, festivals, performances, and recording projects.

I hold a BA (Hons) in Audio Production from Edinburgh College, where I developed strong technical and creative skills while collaborating with established musicians and industry professionals. I have worked as a sound and lighting technician at two Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, gaining experience in fast-paced live environments across a variety of productions.

I work closely with artists, venues, and production teams to provide reliable, high-quality sound tailored to each project. LAB/OR8 will help me expand this work, develop new creative services, support the wider community, and present content in and around Berwick.

BODHI TURNBULL

HOST + PRODUCER

I'm a musician, sound engineer, and passionate creative advocate, dedicated to shining a light on emerging talent from North Northumberland. With a degree in sound engineering and years of experience performing and producing music.

I've always been inspired by the vibrant, often underrepresented creative community of Berwick-on-Tweed. Through LAB/OR8, I aim to celebrate the region’s music, art, and culture while providing a platform for young creatives to share their work, influences, and journeys.

As co-host and producer, I bring energy, insight, and a musician’s perspective to every episode. Whether guiding live studio sessions, highlighting new releases, or exploring the local arts scene.
